Arunside School hosts a number of different clubs for the children which are held both before and after school as well as at lunchtimes.

Our clubs change termly in order to ensure that we can cover as many of the children’s interests as possible. The time table  for the clubs offered during Autumn Term 2022 are detailed below:

Regular Enrichment Activities

Throughout the year the children at Arunside have the opportunity to take part in many exciting events which enrich their learning and enable them to showcase their talents:

EYFS and the Key Stage One Christmas Nativity

Each year the children in EYFS and Key Stage One begin the Christmas celebrations with a wonderful nativity.

Christmas Carol Concert

One of the highlights of the year at Arunside is our annual Christmas Carol Concert at St. Mary’s Church.

Class Assemblies

Throughout the year, each class presents an assembly to celebrate what they are learning. Parents and Carers are invited to attend.

Every two years the whole school works together to put on a spectacular school production showcasing the children’s talents in drama, dance and singing. Over the past decade the children have performed shows such as Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Alice in Wonderland, A Musical Extraviganza, and The Blue Crystal . Last year our Year 6 children entertained us with a very amusing production of ‘Mystery at Magpie Manor’ and this July, our Year 4 and 5 pupils put on the most wonderful production of Wind in the Willows!

Our children are offered an opportunity to learn many different instruments whilst at Arunside. As part of the curriculum in Year 4, all children are taught Djembe drumming or recorders. The children have great fun at their weekly lessons and parents are invited to hear them play at an end of term assembly. Other lessons, (for example, Cello, Violin, Keyboard and Drumming)  are provided at a cost by our partners, Rocksteady and West Sussex Music. Parents are invited to click on the links below for more information and then contact the appropriate organisations to make the necessary bookings.

More Detailed Clubs Information

As part of the National Curriculum, we have arranged for our Year 5 children to start their lessons at the Pavilions during the Autumn Term. Oak class will go swimming on a Monday. Chestnut class will go swimming on a Thursday.

Over the whole term there will be 10 sessions and parents are requested to make a voluntary contribution to cover these costs. The children will walk to and from the pool.

The National Curriculum for Key Stage 2 states that pupils should be taught to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres; use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations. We stress that our children benefit socially from their swimming sessions at Arunside and thoroughly enjoy them. However, if your child has already achieved all of the above standards and you have certificate of evidence, you may wish to withdraw them from these swimming lessons. In the meantime, our swimming lessons will continue to be offered into the Spring term for those who are still working towards these skills.  For those children who do not go swimming we will allocate them to other classes to work.
