The Arunside Eco-Logic League empowers pupils to protect and celebrate our planet. Through gardening, recycling projects, wildlife surveys and energy-saving campaigns, children develop leadership, teamwork and environmental responsibility. The League inspires practical action, creative problem-solving and lasting sustainable habits within our school and wider community.
The Eco-Logic League are elected at the beginning of each academic year by their peers and are represented by two children from each class in Years 2-6. Our League is coordinated by Mrs Flower, Miss Guthrie and Mrs Chaffe.
Since 2021, our Eco-Logic League has championed a number of initiatives, including:
- discussions around the effect of single-use plastic in our community
- raising awareness of the devastating impact of fast fashion on our planet, mainly affecting the poorer nations
- reducing food waste and its shocking impact on the environment
- creating a League rota to recycle old school stationary
- daily litter picking on the school’s playgrounds and fields
- termly recycling drives to reduce waste including batteries and milk tops
Our plans now are to:
- Find better ways to become a sustainable school, working in accordance with Arunside’s Climate Action Plan to reduce our carbon footprint
- Create a link with other schools
- Connect and help the local community
- Link environmental awareness to many subjects of the curriculum
